I bet you wish you'd bought more copies of Radio Times now  :)  It always amazes me how some of these game cards can fetch ridiculous prices.  Somewhere or other I have a load of Magic the gathering first edition cards but sadly not a black lotus.

Thought most cards of the past were free with a product, with only a few exceptions

I think the difference in this case is that some cards in the set are given away by some obscure means.  A bit like smoking Ogdens for years to get a set of Guinea Golds and then finding that a key card in the set was given away by the local supermarket in bags of sugar.

My answer to that then is to keep them, likely one day desirable, will only end up regretting the discarding of the cards.
