The card that changed the world?
« on: June 27, 2017, 05:44:05 PM »
Did a humble trade card inspire David Bowie to write his first major hit? Is it possible that a postcard kickstarted the 1980's Indie music scene? In my latest YouTube video I reveal several cards that might have changed the world. I'd like to thank Samual for pointing out the possible connection between David Bowie and the Mister Softee Moon Mission card set.

Where do you find all this information?  It's all very interesting stuff.  Come to that, where do you find the time to make all the videos?  A record company based on old postcards?  That's an original idea.  A lot of the Bonzo's hits were based on old 78s they found in junk shops.  I once knew someone who founded a budget record company.  Speedwell records based in Speedwell house.  Sounds very impressive.  He didn't mention that the company was named after the building, a semi-derelict block of flats in Deptford.

As you know, I find some of the information on forum boards :) I don't know, I just collect interesting online anecdotes and try to make connections. Yeah, I spend way too much time on this. I do try to recombine recycled stuff to save time. I like the black postcard that might have inspired the minimalist art movement. I'll check out Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, thanks!
