I am sure a lot of the forum members are missing the words of wisdom and help given by our good friend Alex.
Unfortunaley I have to report that he is in hospital with a severe bout of Bronchial Pneumonia. He is in the ITU at Bury St Edmunds Hospital Suffolk. Although comfortable he has had a tracotome and has help with his breathing by a machine.
I will keep the forum up to date on his progress but our thoughts are with him and our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hi
I spoke to Val on Friday and Alex is still quite poorly in hospital. He has been diagnosed Fibrous of the lung but has shown some good signs of improvement in the last few days. He is much more lucid and asking questions about various things he is interested in.
They were hoping to move him to a ward as soon as a bed becomes available.
So some good news, he will hopefully be with us in the forum again very soon.

Hi all,
only just got back to this Forum so straight away I would like to say a big thank you for all of your messages wishing me a speedy recovery.
I have now been at home for two and a half weeks now and making slow progress.
My lungs got hit hardest so unfortunately for me I need permanent oxygen.
I do find it hard to get about at the moment as I lost so much weight that my legs need retraining in the art of walking but slow progress is being made in that direction.
I have yet to read all of the more recent posts on here but I shall read them all.
Cheers again guys it's nice to know people care.

Welcome back Alex. I was in Lincoln a couple of months ago (how time flies) and everyone there wished you all the best as well.

It is with great sadness I have to inform forum members that our friend and top poster Alex has passed away.
Alex was re-admitted to hospital on Monday where he had a heart attack and later died.
Before Alex was first taken ill he had the highest number of posts on the forum. He often started topics adding several photos.I remember one of his last was on Ty-Phoo cards which several members enjoyed.
Alex was a real stalwart of the East Anglian club.A commitee member he would be often seen helping out in the kitchen. He was a keen photogragher and for the last few years had produced a calendar for club members, with each month having a different card theme.
Alex will be sadly missed by all who new him
RIP
