three interesting website
« on: March 26, 2012, 07:04:02 PM »
for those that are interested, into seeing the contents or images of card sets, here are three interesting websites that i use.
probably more established members may already know of them, but if not, they are useful tools of information
the first one is, THE DINOSAUR FAN
he lissts many hundreds of cigarete and trade card sets, enirely devoted to dinosaur, and other extinct life forms
the second is LONDON SCHOOL ATTENDANCE CARDS, which can be found catalogued in the four handbooks of trade card.
the handbooks do not list all, but the website shows a full colour image of practically every shool board for london, and the london county council reward cards.
the third website of interest, is the NYPL DIGITAL LIBRARY, the new york public library,
here can be found over seven hundred full sets of british cigarette card .
so far, the listing covers all set in alphabetical order, sets from A to L so far.
you can view the full set, mostly over mostly 20 cards per page, or you can go into each card individually, and you are able to view either back or front.

WOW!! The NYPL DIGITAL LIBRARY is some site!

Nearly 2,500 pages showing nearly 50,000 cigarette cards - OK if you have a day you can spend browsing.
Extremely well laid out and easy to search - pity we do not have anything in this country similar - Or do we????

Couldn't find any listing for Figaro Cigarettes though....... :-[

the NYPL has evolved over the years with new sets added at irregular intervals , keep an eye on it as it might get bigger over time .

I'm unsure if we have similar but there are a few on USA sites that show many cards bith usa & uk

heres one for the movie buffs .
