Three cards in one
« on: May 16, 2012, 07:49:57 AM »
I noted a previous thread regarding magic changing cards... this is a different take on the same theme!

I came across this card a few years ago - and while I've moved it onto another collector, (who collects Filmstars among other themes), we would both love to know if anyone in the UK can shed any light on it?

Nobody I am aware of knows what it is (though clearly a BAT Issue), how it was packaged or if there were any others (including Martin Murray) who added a scan (which cannot show all three images, because of the construction nature) to his material on unusual objects/cards

The image moves between Rudolph Valentino, Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks as you move or tilt the card from side to side and was purchased at a Carboot sale here in Melbourne, Australia from an estate that had a number of Charlie Chaplin cards (including this one) in a 20 pocket sleeve page

Can anyone help a collector from downunder?

Hi Steve , I'm not familiar with Australian tobacco issues but there was a set issued by Temple Bar titled Film Stars ,any chance it might be from that ?

Have you any Peter the Pilot Victory cards at hand ...in close to mint ?

Unfortunately I don't have any Peter the Pilot cards Dant - and if you ascertained the referecne for the Card as a Temple Bar Movie Star series - canyou elaborate on where the source came from please...

I've also got the same card on Troy Kirk's US Movie Star Website and haven't got a bite from it - but am not aware of a listing for Temple Bar cards...

Any light on the subject would be appreciated...

Hi Steve , no problems regarding Peter the Pilot ,many thanks for responding .

I found the reference on Troys site , if I can dig up the link I'll post it on here .

It seems that Troy hasn't updated the site recently-tut tut Troy or I made the (wrong) connection before the card was posted .

All the best in getting an answer ,the card is super .

edite to add ; Steve ,was Temple Bar made by British-Australasian Tobacco Co. Pty Ltd ?
Just wondered as it might give me something togo with at a later date .
