Good for you bri.d, but, depending upon what one collects, there comes a time when most people have to resort to a major dealer for some of the more elusive stuff, especially if condition is important to you.

Car boot and Ebay might well work for many cards, but when it comes to pre-WW1 ones in very good or better condition I'm not so sure.

has anyone heard any news about murrays cards yet ?
there as been a notice, it seems for several weeks, they will be taking orders in two weeks, but i am sure this notice has been on their webpage much longer than this.
also, has anyone noticed that some of the prices seem to have shot up ?
i am sure that some of the sweet cigarette packets are now double the price, and they have a play hour zoo album, that is £30.
i have two of these albums and cards as issued.
even the london cigarette card company sells this collection for just over £8

I think the new Murray's will be in name only.

The new owner is also selling on ebay username hux777

yes, i do know the other website.
the murrays website, though, do contain some interesting items, amd i have purchased from their new list, but even so, i feel as though some of their items, are pretty steep in price.
i have also noticed, even before murrays reduced sale, that on their new ebay listings, some items have doubled.
even their postage costs have gone up, amd fairly pricey for small items.
more irritating, is that prices are now in US dollers, before pounds stirling, nice round figures in dollers, but some odd combinations for stirling currency.
i suppose this is done for the american market, but originating in britain, i thought priority should be  for the british buyers.
do more americans purchase british cards than the british ?
i thought the americans were more interested in american issues, and baseball

He has a lot of American items for sale under hux777,both modern and older cards.
I think by selling in dollars he is hitting both markets here and the U.S.

The HUX777 stock is in the process of moving and I take it that some of it will end up in the old Murrays shop in the near future , if not there some other location where collectors can view limited stock .

The guy behind HUX has purchased vast amounts of American cards from collectors in the USofA , were talking 5-10 million cards from 1 collector alone so I guess to recoup their investment they have to move on the cards to who ever wants to buy them . Cards don't recognise borders .

I'd say a lot of the customers are from the US but then again a lot of the customers are from the UK and beyond .

They also offer a nice selection of comics with premiums still intact .

i do understand that he is catering for the US market as well as at home.
the baseball cards in which he seems to list many, i should imagine fail to interest to many UK buyers, likewise, many issues from the UK, would fail to interest US buyers.
both the LCCC and murrays used to sell to the US, but i see know reason that he should almost double the price of some items that murrays sold in the UK, and of UK interest only, and likewise the playhour zoo book that the LCCC sell at around eight pounds, yet was selling at thirty pounds.

The best way to let this person know his prices are too high is to not even entertain purchasing them, I think he will eventually get the point.

Hi Fossil ,

as Derek Dea states , I'm sure a seller will get an idea their goods are overpriced when they don't get any takers . They might even start them off at a 99p auction .

Do LCCC sell comics ? I can't seem to find them on their web site ,just wondering .

yes, its still there, the playhour zoo album, and 24 cards for just over £30, and a playhour comic, with a sheet of the cards, for just over £37
what i find even more irritating, is that they prices reflect more for the american market, the commic being a nice round figure of one cent less than 60 dollers, 59.99, yet when converted to pounds, an odd figure of just over £37
i can understand the british collectors would associate the playhour as a more nostalgic item, as i recall when young, my parents purchasing the comic for me, but what appeal would it have to the american market, just as much as the baseball cards, have no interest to me

Hi Fossil, I can appreciate that Murrays still have the comic and premium up for sale but I can't find any reference to LCCC seling it for £8 or so .

Is there a link to LCCC showing it ?
