Churchmans
« on: July 17, 2012, 10:07:55 AM »
Hi there,
Total novice here.
I have come across some cigarette cards, and wondering if there is any value to them.
They are Churchman’s ‘Can You Beat Bogey At St Andrews’ & a 'Holed in One' from 1934.
Unsure how to post pictures .. but will try.
Thanks in advance
Regards
John

Hello and Welcome Agphile ,

some lovely looking cards there .

The cards book at just over £2 but golf cards are always popular and may fetch more .
I believe we have a member who collects Churchman cards so maybe he will give you a more accurate value ...logs off and makes way for MagpieMick .

Hi John

Like my knowelagble freind dant says i am the member and collector of churchman cards i have both of the sets of can you beat the bogey
and they are being golf themed in demand
They are from a set of 54/55 cards , the 55th card being the joker card or hole in one card which comes in 4 variations

golfer with halo
bottle of whiskey

each with either available at 3 bogey holes or only available

Like most sets there are certain key cards which would cost more than the book price guide and the joker card from theses sets are certainly that

Depending on market and who is looking for odd card the normal cards i would say value at £1.75 however some dealer charge more as there are 3 different charachters on the back of the cards who play the round of golf Mr Rabbitt Mr Everyman and Mr Tiger there are 17 of the Mr Tiger cards you will find dealers charge above the odds for theses

For the joker card the prices vary dependening on who you buy it from a dealer would pay about £20 for it and sell it for around about £40 so keep a hold of that one if i was you and alas i allready have that paticular joker card

Hope this helps you out

Regards

Mick

Nice cards. I suppose the golfing subject contributes to their value.
