I wondered if anybody had been able to pick up something elusive from the current sell off of Stock by Murray cards?
Ive bought a couple of sets which have been a little elusive in particular Wills VCs New Zealand issue
Anybody else found anything?

Welcome to the site Simon. It's a real shame that Murrays are shutting down. Possibly the ebay effect? I haven't filled any gaps in my collection from Murray's sell off stock yet but it's certainly worth a look.

If you want to pick anything up from Murray's you'd better be quick - they cease trading on December 31st and their last auction will be held on January 22nd (Huh ?). Their retail shop closes on December 23rd.
It's very sad and the end of an era.

Nothing especially 'elusive' but several Irish
issues that have eluded me due to their price
bracket (that made them elusive)!
What elusive items I did gain were many odds
from an exhaustive (possibly exhausting?) list.
Also many trade sets that whilst not expensive
are scarce (LCCC did not have 14 of these
sets, only odds),

Perhaps LCCC should head over to Murtrays and pick up some sets?

Whilst I found the discounts very attractive, it was obvious that the quality had been discounted as well. I did pick up a set of early 20th century Huntley & Palmer trade cards that I'd been after for a while and at a reasonable price, but the rest went back. Still, the recent Murray auctions comprised some cracking lots. Wonder where the sellers are going to migrate to now?

"Wonder where the sellers are going to migrate to now"
There are plenty of other auctions around. The CSGB has one every two months. The various branches also have their own auctions. See e.g. the East Anglian branch, The Hants and Surrey branch, the Reading branch etc. Then there's LCCC. Also independent postal auctions such as LDC. So there will still be many places where you can find bargains.

Thanks for your response re other auction sites; have to admit that I found LCC one a little disappointing compared with Murrays, but maybe that'll improve now that Murrays is no longer in the frame.
