this is just a personal opinion i think you should make the main general cigarette card collecting thread. the cards for sale .and wanted .for members only. as there seems to be for more guests then members .may encourage more members. if not we might as well all be  guests. just a thought.

Thanks for your input Bri. You're right, we have many more guests than members. The site gets a lot of traffic and we need to encourage more people to take part in the discussions rather than just be spectators. Generally, though, I have found from running other forums in the past that giving guests full access to the forum enables them to see that the site is worth joining and a lot of guests do eventually turn into members.

Having said that, I have found that putting a limit on the number of pages guests can see without joining does boost membership and this may be the best way of putting your suggestion into operation.

There are distinct advantages to membership of this site. You need to be a member to buy and sell cards on the site or to send other members personal messages. In the near future we will be adding other facilities that will be members only such as competitions.

I have been enjoying the forum since I started but I feel I must disclose an ever increasing frustration.
The last response is published at the bottom of each discussion and as each topic grows, I am finding myself forever scrolling. Perhaps the last entry should be the first on the list.

What are your thoughts.

One other thing what can be done to encourage all the people who visit the site to actually contribute.

i must agree with the last member, also about the contributions to the site.
of 118 members, 47 have made no contributions, so i feel to join, some sort of contribution should be made.
it is always interesting in reading other members views, even upon subjects that i know little about.
that is the way knowledge is shared and expanded.
secondly, i do not really want to see members joining just for the aim ofplacing tentative 'finfdings' of cards that they have no knowledge of, with the hope that members wish to purchase them

If you access the site from the front page, clicking on a particular thread in the 'Recent Topics' panel will take you directly to the last post in that thread. If you browse through the site via the 'Forum' page you will need to scroll down to the last post. To make this a little easier I have installed a 'Go Down' link at the top left of the page. If you click on this you will be taken to the bottom of the page.

Having the newest post at the bottom of the page and the oldest at the top is the traditional way that a forum is laid out. I don't know of any forums that do it differently. As CigaretteCardCollecting.com is based around standard forum software I'm afraid there is no option to do things any other way.

CigaretteCardCollecting.com gets a lot of traffic every day, both members and guests. Many more people just read what other people have written rather than contribute themselves. This is true of most forums but seems more pronounced on our site.

Obviously the more people that contribute, the better and more interesting the site will get so I am keen to encourage more participation.

I think part of the problem may be that members are finding it difficult to find out how to start a new topic themselves. I am working to simplify the process and I soon hope to have a clear button on the front page to allow members to start a new topic.

I am glad you are enjoying the site and as the site grows and more people contribute I'm sure CigaretteCardCollecting.com will become even more interesting and a valuable resource for the collector.

The "go down" and "go up" icons are a useful addition.

I like the "up & down" addition, thank you.

Just been trying again to put a image on, after 3 attempts reducing the wording, it still tells me file is to big, 380k is the maximum. It was one photo and 2 lines of wording. What am I doing wrong?
I am following your previous guide and was successful. I can, and have done the down loads but cannot go less than the one photo.

Havn't tried the gallery yet for inputting images but those appear not to have a link to the discussion, am I wrong.

Thought to start an album for "Guinea Golds" showing new finds rare & interesting cards, but would that be classed as boring. Not to me it would'nt. I want to see other peoples finds.

I can see there is more allotted memory to this section than in the normal discussions

Is there a way to link discussion to gallery.
This is my first time ever on any forum perhaps it shows sorry.
